Bailan Beach, Koh Chang
Bailan is a quiet bay further south on the west coast of Koh Chang, with few hotels and a calm atmosphere. A Standard Sedan from Bangkok to a hotel here costs 3,899 THB for the whole car, and the driver brings the car across on the ferry with you.

A small bay
Bailan suits travellers who want little traffic and early nights. The choice of restaurants is smaller than in the north, so many guests eat at the hotel or at a few places nearby. Check what your hotel offers before you book.
The nearest of the other beaches are Lonely Beach and Bang Bao, where there are more shops and restaurants.
Reaching Bailan by taxi
The road from the mainland is long, and the island road after the ferry is long too. A private car spares you the change from a minivan to a songthaew with your luggage. The driver takes the ferry with you and drives to the door of the hotel you write in the form.
From Bangkok the road to Laem Ngop takes 4 h 20 min, from Don Mueang 4 h 40 min, from Suvarnabhumi 3 h 50 min. Count the crossing and the island road on top, and plan for an afternoon ferry.

The Standard Sedan costs 3,899 THB from Bangkok. From Suvarnabhumi it is 3,699 THB, from Don Mueang 3,999 THB and from Pattaya 3,299 THB. The Toyota Fortuner for 4 costs 4,199 THB from Bangkok. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person.

Leave the island with a margin, because the ferries stop in the early evening. For an evening flight, ask the driver to pick you up early.
