Pier or island
Book the pier when the car does not need to cross the water. That is the case if you are heading to Koh Mak, if you want to sleep on the mainland first, or if you plan to take the ferry on foot and use taxis on the island. A Standard Sedan to the pier costs 3,599 THB, which is 300 THB less than the 3,899 THB to a hotel on Koh Chang.
If your hotel is on the island, the Bangkok to Koh Chang transfer is usually simpler: the car crosses with you and drives to the door.
The piers of Laem Ngop
Laem Ngop is the mainland port for Koh Chang and Koh Mak. Ao Thammachat is the pier of the ferry to Koh Chang, and the crossing takes about 30 minutes. Center Point is a second ferry pier along the same coast, a few kilometres on, and our drivers take guests to either pier. Boats to Koh Mak leave from Krom Luang pier.

Timing the day
Bangkok to the pier is 4 h 20 min. A pick-up at 10:00 reaches the pier around 14:20 in normal traffic, with the afternoon ferries ahead of you. Boats to the islands stop in the early evening, so a pick-up after about 13:00 puts the last crossing at risk.
Friday afternoon is the heaviest time out of Bangkok. On that day move the pick-up earlier.
Tickets
The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. Boat tickets to Koh Mak are bought at the pier or from the operator, and their price depends on the boat. The taxi price covers the driver, fuel, tolls and taxes, and nothing on the water.
The driver helps with the bags to the ticket counter, and the few minutes it takes cost nothing.

The Standard Sedan (3,599 THB) and the Premium Sedan (3,699 THB) take 3 passengers. The Toyota Innova at 3,799 THB and the Toyota Fortuner at 3,899 THB take 4. The Hyundai H1 takes six at 5,899 THB, the VIP Commuter eight at 5,899 THB and the Toyota Commuter nine at 4,499 THB.
You pay the driver in cash, or by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, transfer by QR code or bank transfer to a Thai account if you prefer. Cancellation is free. From 24 December to 5 January 400 THB is added per car.
