A long day on the road
The planning time is 6 h for 380 km. Don Mueang lies in the north of the city, and the route to the east has to cross or skirt Bangkok before it reaches the eastern motorways. The traffic on weekday mornings and Friday evenings adds to it. After 21:00 the same road is much quicker.

Don Mueang to the Laem Ngop pier is 4 h 40 min. The ferries stop in the early evening, so a flight that lands by about noon reaches the last boats with room to spare. An evening arrival is better booked to the Laem Ngop pier, with a night near the mainland and the crossing in the morning.
