From resort to ferry

The island has one main road along the west coast, and the ferry landing is at the north end. A pick-up at Bang Bao takes longer to reach the landing than a pick-up at White Sands, so the first leg depends on your beach.

The road is winding on the hills, and the driver sets the pace for the bags and the passengers.

The ferry

The crossing to Ao Thammachat takes about 30 minutes. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. Boats run through the day and stop in the early evening, so a pick-up for a late flight should leave the island before the afternoon crowds.

A queue builds on Sunday afternoons, and a morning start avoids it.

The mainland road
