Distance from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to Laem Ngop pier
The Laem Ngop pier is 320 km from Suvarnabhumi Airport by road, and the drive takes about 3 h 50 min. The airport lies east of the city, so the route joins the eastern motorway at once, passes Chon Buri and Rayong, and continues on Highway 3 through Chanthaburi before turning to the coast.
Out of the airport
From the terminal the car reaches the motorway within minutes, and the ring of the city is not on the route. The first sections have toll booths, and the driver pays them from the fare.
An arrival at 17:00 meets evening traffic near the airport. A midday arrival does not.
Chon Buri to Chanthaburi
Beyond Chon Buri the road is flat and straight, with factories and fruit stalls beside it. Trucks are the main slowdown. Highway 3 passes Rayong and Chanthaburi, and fuel stations with shops and restaurants are spaced along it.

The coast at Laem Ngop
After Chanthaburi the road enters Trat province and turns to the coast. The pier at Ao Thammachat is the ferry to Koh Chang. Center Point is a few kilometres on, and Krom Luang is the pier for the boats to Koh Mak. The form asks which pier you want.
The ferry crossing is not in the 3 h 50 min. It takes about 30 minutes.
Timing
A flight that clears the terminal by about 14:00 makes an afternoon crossing, because ferries and boats stop in the early evening. Later than that, plan a night near the pier.
