How to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to Laem Ngop pier
From Suvarnabhumi Airport to the Laem Ngop pier you can take a private taxi, a bus or minivan to Trat with a songthaew, or a rental car. The taxi costs 3,299 THB per car for the 320 km and takes about 3 h 50 min.
Private taxi
The driver waits at Exit 3 with your name on a sign, takes the bags and leaves you at the pier of your ferry or boat. The price covers the car, the driver, tolls and fuel. The wait for a delayed flight is included.
The Toyota Innova at 3,499 THB takes four with luggage, and the Hyundai H1 at 5,599 THB takes six.
Bus or minivan to Trat
Buses and minivans to Trat run from the airport area and from the Eastern bus terminal. They stop in Trat town, so the last 20 km to the pier are by songthaew or minivan. Bags and a late landing make the chain of changes slow.
Check where the stop is and the current timetable, because departures and fares change.
Rental car
A rental car can be collected at the airport. The drive is long, and the car must go back, which means the same road again or a one-way fee. The pier has room to leave a car, but the plan for the days you are away is yours.
A taxi is easier after a long flight.
Which to choose
A group with suitcases takes the taxi, because the fare is shared and the trip is door to door. A traveller who lands in the afternoon and wants a crossing the same day should take the taxi, since a bus leaves on its own timetable.

Beyond the pier
The crossing to Koh Chang is about 30 minutes. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. If the car should cross with you, book Suvarnabhumi to Koh Chang.

Is there a train from the airport to Laem Ngop?
No. Trains do not run to Laem Ngop, and the way is by road.
Where do buses from the airport stop?
In Trat town. To reach the pier from there you take a songthaew or a minivan.
Is the taxi worth it for one person?
Public transport is cheaper for one person. The taxi starts where you are and ends at your door, and two or three passengers share the fare.
