Distance from Don Mueang Airport (DMK) to Laem Ngop pier
The Laem Ngop pier is 350 km from Don Mueang Airport by road, and the drive takes about 4 h 40 min. The route crosses the north of Bangkok to the eastern motorway, runs through Chon Buri and Rayong, and continues on Highway 3 through Chanthaburi to the coast in Trat province.
Crossing the north of the city
Don Mueang lies north of the centre, and the first hour is the slowest part of the trip. Weekday mornings and Friday evenings are the worst times to cross the city. After 21:00 the same road is much quicker.
A midnight landing has the road almost to itself.
Chon Buri to Chanthaburi
On the eastern motorway the road is flat and straight, with factories and fruit stalls beside it. Highway 3 then passes Rayong and Chanthaburi. The driver pays the tolls from the fare, and fuel stations with shops and restaurants are spaced along the way.

The coast at Laem Ngop
In Trat province the road turns to the coast. Ao Thammachat is the pier of the ferry to Koh Chang, Center Point is a few kilometres on, and Krom Luang is the pier for boats to Koh Mak. The form asks which one you want.
The ferry crossing of about 30 minutes is not in the 4 h 40 min.
Timing
A flight that clears the terminal by about 13:30 makes a crossing the same day, because ferries and boats stop in the early evening. Later than that, plan a night near the pier.
