Private taxi

The driver collects you at your resort, takes the ferry with you and drops you at your address in Bangkok. The fare is per car, and tolls and fuel are part of it. For three or four people the fare is shared.

The Toyota Innova at 4,099 THB takes four with luggage, and the Hyundai H1 at 6,099 THB takes six.

Songthaew, ferry and bus

From the beach you take a songthaew to the ferry landing, cross to Ao Thammachat, then go by songthaew or minivan to Trat and by bus to Bangkok. It is the cheapest way, and it is also the slowest, because each leg waits for the next.

Check the times at the island stops, since the last songthaews of the day thin out early.

Minivan

Minivans from the island to Bangkok pick up at set points and wait until full. The seat is tighter than a car seat and the bags go at the back. A minivan is a middle choice when the booking is made the day before.

Your hotel or a travel desk on the beach can book a seat.

Which to choose

One person with a day bag can manage the public chain. A family, a couple with suitcases or a group takes the taxi, because it starts at the hotel and ends at the hotel. A traveller with a fixed meeting in Bangkok should take the taxi as well, since it leaves at the time you set.

Prices are on the price page. You pay the driver in cash, or by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, transfer by QR code or bank transfer to a Thai account if you prefer.

The ferry

The crossing takes about 30 minutes. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. The service page Taxi from Koh Chang to Bangkok describes the day in order.

Questions and answers

Is the taxi worth it for one person?

Rarely on price alone. The car suits a door-to-door trip with luggage, and the fare splits between the passengers.

Can the taxi pick me up at my resort?

Yes. Write the hotel name and the beach in the form, and the driver comes to the door.

Can I book the trip to the island as well?

Yes. See Bangkok to Koh Chang.

Do I buy the ferry ticket in advance?

No. You buy it at the pier.
