How to get from Koh Chang to Don Mueang Airport (DMK)

To reach Don Mueang from Koh Chang you can book a private taxi, take a songthaew, a ferry and buses, or ride a minivan. The taxi costs 3,999 THB per car for the 380 km and takes about 6 h. Public transport costs less per person, with several changes on the way.

Private taxi

The driver collects you at your resort, takes the ferry with you and drops you at the Don Mueang terminal. The amount does not change on the road: it is per car and covers tolls and fuel. You choose the time, so the flight can be counted back with a margin.

Songthaew, ferry and buses

From the beach you take a songthaew to the landing, cross to Ao Thammachat, then ride a songthaew or minivan to Trat, a bus to Bangkok and a last ride to Don Mueang. It is the cheapest way and the longest. For a flight it leaves no room for a late leg.

Minivan

Minivans between the island and Bangkok pick up at set points and wait until full. They rarely go on to Don Mueang, so a last ride is still needed. The seat is tighter than in a car.

Which to choose

A single traveller with time and a day bag can use the public chain. A family or a group with suitcases, or anyone with a flight, takes the taxi, because it starts at the hotel and leaves at the time you set. Low-cost flights often change with little notice, and a taxi is easier to move than a chain of tickets.
