The island has one main road along the west coast, and the ferry landing is at the north end. A pick-up at Lonely Beach needs more time to reach the landing than a pick-up at White Sands.

The road is winding on the hills, and the driver takes it at a pace that suits the bags.

The ferry

The crossing to Ao Thammachat takes about 30 minutes. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. Boats run through the day and stop in the early evening, so a flight in the evening still calls for a pick-up before noon.

The mainland road
