Private taxi

The driver collects you at your resort, crosses with you on the ferry and drops you at your hotel in Pattaya. You pay one price for the car, and tolls and fuel are in it. For two or three people the fare is shared.

The Toyota Innova at 3,499 THB takes four with luggage, and the Hyundai H1 at 5,199 THB takes six.

Songthaew, ferry and bus

The public chain starts with a songthaew to the ferry landing, a crossing to Ao Thammachat, a songthaew or minivan to Trat and a bus towards Pattaya. It is the cheapest option and takes the longest, because each leg waits for the next.

Check the bus times at Trat, since departures and fares change.

Minivan

Minivans between the island and Pattaya pick up at set points and leave when full. The seat is tighter than a car seat, and the bags go at the back. A hotel desk can book a seat.

A minivan suits one or two travellers who do not need a pick-up at the door.

Which to choose

A single traveller with a day bag takes the public chain. Two or more people with suitcases take the taxi, since it starts at the resort and ends at the hotel. A traveller who wants to reach Pattaya before dark should take the taxi too, because it leaves at the time you choose.

Prices are on the price page. You pay the driver in cash, or by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, transfer by QR code or bank transfer to a Thai account if you prefer.

The ferry

The crossing takes about 30 minutes. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. The service page Taxi from Koh Chang to Pattaya describes the trip.

Questions and answers

Is there a direct bus from the island to Pattaya?

No. Buses leave from Trat, so you first cross to the mainland.

Is the taxi worth it for one person?

Can the taxi pick me up at my resort?

Yes. Put the hotel name and the beach into the form.

Can I book the trip to the island as well?

Yes. See Pattaya to Koh Chang.

Do I buy the ferry ticket in advance?
