Private taxi

You set a time and give a hotel address in Pattaya. The driver collects you, drives onto the ferry with you and leaves you at your resort on the island. The fare is per car, and tolls and fuel are part of it.

For two or three people the fare is shared, and for four the Toyota Innova at 3,499 THB gives room for the cases.

Bus, songthaew and ferry

From Pattaya a bus goes to Trat via Rayong and Chanthaburi. It stops in Trat town, so the last stretch to the ferry pier is by songthaew, and then the island songthaew takes you to the beach. Each change is a wait, and the luggage travels with you through all of them.

Check the timetable at the Pattaya bus station, because departures and fares change.

Minivan

Minivans run from Pattaya to Trat or to the pier. They leave when full and stop at set points, not at your hotel. A seat is tighter than a seat in a car, and the bags go on the roof or at the back.

A minivan is a middle choice for a single traveller who wants to avoid the bus station.

Which to choose

A single traveller with a small bag takes the bus. Two or more people with suitcases take the taxi, which is the only option that picks up at the hotel and goes to the hotel. A traveller who wants to arrive in daylight should take the taxi, because it leaves when you choose.

Prices are on the price page. You pay the driver in cash, or by Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, transfer by QR code or bank transfer to a Thai account if you prefer.

The ferry

The crossing takes about 30 minutes. The ferry is not included in the price: plus ferry tickets, about 80 THB per person. The service page Taxi from Pattaya to Koh Chang describes the whole trip.
